Klatolklin K9 -World Class Working German Shepherds From The Last Frontier-
Slovakian and Czech Breed Survey

It is difficult to find information on the Slovakian system on the internet.  Often it will show the Czech system only and that can lead to a misleading result when reading the chart for a particular dog.

We have taken the Czech chart and included the Slovakian part.  Basically the chart is the same except the last column.  You can see on the chart below the difference and why it is so important to know you are looking up info on a Czech survey or a Slovakian survey.

A couple examples of our own dogs are:
Norma Stara Basta - Slovakian Breed Survey 5OV5/54
Indi Naspo - Czech Breed Survey 5JU1/N

Because the Slovakian system seems to be less well known, I will break down Norma's to hopefully explain how the numbers and letters come into a breed survey.

5 = Large, in the upper part of the standard.
O = Light eyes
V = Wolf grey, dark features
5/ = Overall rating for protection work, 5 is the best!
5 = Rating for first protection test in breed survey.  See Chart.
4 = Rating for second protection test in breed survey.  See Chart.

One note on Norma's second protection test which was a 4 instead of the ideal 5.  This can often be slow to out or taking a quick bite too early.  It shows less than ideal control.  Without watching the survey take place it is hard to say.  What is more important is she got 5 for the overall protection rating which means she is working at the highest level.  4 can sometimes be looked at as having an edge to their work.  This would make sense also because Norma is a bit extreme in her bitework.
